The cast of zany characters surrounding the Akihabara JR station increases with the addition of this rappin’ store clerk at the Megane (“glasses”) Super who, via the miracle of “hip-hop,” describes the virtues of his establishment and the various wares inside, including hearing aids.
I'm not sure how successful the sales pitch actually is, but I do know one thing. When he was in full "flow" no one was paying any attention to the maids nearby.
You know, I could have sworn I saw this guy doing the exact same thing around the north/east part of the Shinjuku JR station a few months ago... maybe they keep moving him around, hoping to find the perfect target audience?

The rapping megane dude is a minor celebrity. This guy might copying the original guy's act, or he could be the same dude who has been doing glasses rapping for a while now. I've seen him on TV several times...

Now this guy, this guy is just awesome.

I`m hearing that the Original Rapper may have been a guy with a similar set-up at a Bic Camera in Higashi Shinjuku. Rapping about hearing aids and stuff *anywhere* is cool, but it really adds to the already Muppet Show like atmosphere of Akihabara station. I have yet to get shots of the masked breakdancers there. I wonder how long until they get contracts at Watanabe Entertainment and the Megane guy teams up with Kokujin Tensai...

You know, I wonder if there's a way to license things like this and find a way to put them on the insert DVD for Otaku USA magazine...for that matter if a way could be found to work with NHK and get the Tokyo Eye segments on that disc.
I think that would be a wonderful multi-media experence, but I'm just a thinker...

Harrison-san spake thusly:
"You know, I wonder if there's a way to license things like this and find a way to put them on the insert DVD for Otaku USA magazine...for that matter if a way could be found to work with NHK and get the Tokyo Eye segments on that disc."
I would *subscribe* to Otaku USA if it would mean Tokyo Eye on DVD each month. Seriously.

On second thought...this is the kind of person the phrase "sucka MC" was invented to describe. Kokujin Tensai and Shakkazombie should get together and lay the smack him down on him on principle. I mean, the faker on the opening theme for "Samurai Champloo" has better flow than this guy. Hell, he's not even Nerdcore. Wack.

See now if he had the Verbal glasses and another employee as a DJ, he would have won additional points.

Huh? What's wrong with the flow on the Samurai Champloo theme? I'm not saying Shing02 is Rakim, but he's pretty decent.

I saw a glasses rapper in Shinjuku near the station, but he was wearing a 'bear' hat with ears. Funny!!
