I have a short review of Julian Cope's book "Japrocksampler: How the Post War Japanese Blew Their Minds On Rock 'n' Roll" in today's Japan Times as part of their Wrapping Up Music of 2007 feature. Link here.
It was originally going to be a full on interview with Cope, but he dropped the ball for whatever weird reasons. Too bad, because it would have been fun.
To compensate, here's my current favourite "Japrock" song: Running Shirts Long by Hiro Yanagida from the 1970 LP Milk Time.
