Slap me on a rubba my brotha and dive straight for the covers! Junko Mizuno brand condoms and lotion (aka lube) are now on sale in Japan! Produced in association with Garden co. ltd., the first wave of products from the Mizuno Garden series come in fancy fold out packages that include exclusive character cards (below) and 'lucky cards' good for prizes. More info about the line - soon to include lingerie and adult toys proper - can be found in Jap/Eng at the Mizuno Garden website.
Quivering confession: I've been told that I helped proof some of the English text on the boxes. Last Gasp and jaPRESS will be publishing Junko Mizuno's Fancy Gigilo Pelu in English later this year.
This was bound to happen...

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Aaah!!! This is a riot. I love Junko Mizuno's crazy art and humour... and now that I think of it, this had to happen, because it's the most plausible thing fusing ickyness+gothic cute in real life, short of androids addicted to food pills, sex, bulimia and anorexia.....

Yet another thought: I wonder how well this product line will sell, esp. in N. America. I have to admit, this is cool though, I honestly can't see other designers [or trademarked characters] going into this same direction. "Lifestyle companies" regularly churn out all matters of accessories and paraphernalia like notepads, books, jewellery, makeup, bedding, clothing, vinyl figures and the like [think Sanrio, Emily Strange, Frank Industries, TokiDoki]... but lube, condoms, sex toys, lingerie??? Is this sort of thing common in Japan? Are there any North American companies doing anything like this? There is a certain amount of novelty to it that attracts attention.
